There are lots of great attractions near Devon Cliffs all within driving distance.
Paignton Zoo has 2500 animals across 80 acres, one of the South West's most exciting visitor attractions.
The Donkey Sanctuary’s is a working farm is home to donkeys, mules and hinnies, large and small.
We stayed here many times when our children were small, and never had a bad holiday. 4 years ago we went back with our grandsons and again had a lovely time, but the horrendous 2 hour queue for check in, despite us being a 2pm category, put us off going again. We finally decided to give it another go and are glad we did. This time we had a 1pm check in, and didn’t have to queue at all, as they now have separate queues, and it was well staffed and well organised. We had an amazing lodge right on the edge of the cliff. We should have had towels provided but they were missing, so we tried to ring to report it, but had no phone signal. We finally got a weak signal, but nobody answered so we had to walk almost a mile uphill to reception. Once reported we were given the towels straight away, but it was a niggle to have to go to such lengths! We ate at the South Beach and had a delicious meal. My daughter and granddaughter ate at Mash and Barrel which she said was awful, she also had Burger King delivered to the lodge which she said was lovely. I’ve only marked it down because we do think the site is far to big, and there is no phone signal so you feel very cut off. Also the only way you can guarantee a sea view is to book the top of the range lodge which is very expensive. However, they did tell us that next year they’re going to bring in being able to secure a specific location. I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to do that, as I know people who book privately so they know what they’re getting. Have already booked for next year and looking forward to it.
